Ultimately, I couldn’t not write something myself, something to wrap the whole project up, something as direct as I could deliver from me to my father, and I know no more direct a way to say anything than to write a song. I loosely translate here:

It’s his light that my face carries,
We have the same smile,
Inside and out, both I inherited,
The shape of both mouth and speech.

He taught me hundreds of melodies
Without knowing that
This would be the gift that would guide me the most.

And what can I give him in return?
No, not peace of mind as a blessing.
Will he understand that my singing
Is the very proof of my love?

Once, I sat on his shoulders,
The laughter that rolled then was pure,
When I was scared of the dark,
He was the light
And for long now,
he cannot fix what is broken,
But that he wishes to is clear,

Fears still plague me, the world still cruel, and I still cry,
But the support of a loving father still holds me still,

And what can I give him in return?
