Winnipeg

Well, the sign at the station said “Winnipeg” when I got off that weary train,
And the woman who came to greet me was friendly, but you were buzzin’ round in my brain,
She showed me the room I would sleep in, I put down my suitcase and sighed,
The room was alright, but I knew that I would not fall asleep if I tried,
I was down on my knees I’ll admit it, I was willing to moan and beg,
But no matter how I look at it I’m stuck in Winnipeg,
And who knows how long I’ll be here and if they’ll open up the track,
And when they do which way I’ll ride and which way is forward or back,
And I’m not sure if it’s fate or a ticket that wound me up in this town,
I’ve been scratching my head tryin’ to figure it out while the whole world turns upside down,
I’m stuck in Manitoba, but I’m dreamin’ of that train,
And of the day I’m gonna pack my bags and see my baby again,
I don’t know how much longer, don’t know how long it’s been,
I wake and eat and sleep and breathe and the world still seems to spin,
But one thing is for certain, you still buzz ‘round in my brain,
And lord have mercy, I do pray you ain’t buzzin’ round there in vain,
Not sure if it’s fate or a ticket that wound me up in this town,
I’ve been scratching my head trying to figure it out as the whole world turns upside down,
I’m stuck in Manitoba but I’m dreaming of that train,
And of the day I’m gonna pack my bags and see my baby again.

New York
04:42
|

New York, you were in TV shows, you compelled me,
I wanted to be the type to be cool enough
To pack up her bags and rent some quirky apartment
To fill up with plants and with lovers and make art and stuff
I took the Greyhound once from Montreal,
“Kathy I said” was on my mind the whole way,
And the closer we came to that New Jersey turnpike,
The more songs about you began to inwardly play
You seemed like a movie set of yourself when I came out the station,
Yellow cabs, outfits and buildings I’d seen all before,
Everyone I encountered was peaceful and friendly,
I tried to blend it but the glory of you had me floored
New York, you were a dream in a shadow,
I was the only living boy in some other town,
And I figured if those streets of yours are habit forming,
If I came to them truly I’d find myself soon falling down
Now look at you, what have you been going through?
They’re closing up the gates and the curtain’s coming too
We thought we might have lost you when the towers came down
But the city that means everything can keep on falling down
But you rise up, rise up, rise up,
Oh, let this be a New York fairy tale where things turn out fine
And maybe it’s us crusty pesky neighbours
Who will be the ones to turn this whole thing on a dime
Oh, make it end with beauty, oh I pray it does
Tell us of your heroes I’ll be watching, always was
Oh, harbour of salvation where grit gets along with grime
You’re the heartbeat of some great symbol and I feel you all the time
And when you rise up from the ashes, wipe your faces stand up tall
I will come and visit you, smile at each and every wall
You’re a city of survivors and I want to be one too,
Oh New York I love you, hope we both make it through,
Oh New York I love you, hope we both make it through.

Numbers
02:49
|
|||
Number of deaths, number of views,
Number of different takes on the news,
Number of messages, comments and hearts
Number of missing puzzle parts,
Pick a number, one to ten,
Hold it in your mind and then
Say it out loud and say it true,
Did I guess the number as you?
One two three four,
Two two three four,
Three two three four
One
Number of days, number of nights
Number of worries, number of frights,
Number of reasons, number of rhymes,
Number of pennies, nickels and dimes,
Take a number wait your turn,
Stand in line while your soul burns,
Can I have your number please?
You might cure my one disease,
One two three four
Two two three four
Three two three four
One.
I have one hope and I’m of two minds
One hundred mistakes of two or three kinds,
Number of times I’ve had to say I’ll be alright
I’ll find my way
Everyone’s an expert on those stats
Wearing self appointed expert hats
It’s all here in the numbers what are you arguing for,
The one thing we know is that we’ll always want more
One two three four
Two two three four
Three two three four
One

Bananas

It’s not in the vaccine, guys, no! It’s in the bananas!
Cause they know we love bananas, so that is how they’ll get us!
When you least suspect it, it’ll be in the bananas,
You’ll swallow up that microchip, hidden in the mush of it
I mean, just follow the money, cause that is where the truth lies!
Some of us have always known the truth in those banana lies,
And if you read the references, I’ve checked a few of them,
The folks who run bananas have some quite suspicious friends!
And there’s this old Himalayan witch who’s made a great discovery,
This potent plant injection that ensures a great recovery,
I’m sure we’ll order it on line cause we trust the alternatives,
As long as they’re not any part of governmental directives!
But it’s not in the vaccine, folks, no that is way too obvious!
I’m telling you, it’s in the fruit, that is how they’ll get to us!
Wake up, wake up see the truth, by God, don’t eat bananas!
I saw a guy on youtube explain it from Montana! He said he was an expert!!!
And now that I have sung this song and livestreamed it in stereo
Well now they’ll put that microchip someplace else, I do not know,
But it’s not in the vaccine guys, no that is way too obvious!
They’re not gonna stick it in the one place we always discuss!!
Bananas!!!

When This is All Over
03:52
|
|||
When this is all over, when this is all through,
I’m gonna come running til I’m standing next to you,
As soon as they say Go you know I’m putting on my shoes
I’m gonna run to you, baby, take away these lonesome blues
When they open up the borders when they bring down that wall
I’m gonna hurry more than ever into your sweet arms I’ll fall
As soon as word is out that I can get out of this place
I’m gonna run to you, baby, see that smile upon your face
Til then the days are long and time feels kinda strange
Like everything I’ve ever known has gone and rearranged
One thing doesn’t change at all this feeling in my heart
I’m gonna run to you baby and no longer be apart
When the storm has run its course when the heavens reappear
I’m gonna race right over and forget about my fear
Hold you tight and kiss you as we shed a happy tear
I’m gonna run to you baby that’s the only thing that’s clear
I’m gonna run to you baby that’s the only thing that’s clear

I Can't Wait
05:49
|
|||
I can’t wait to touch your face again
To trace your lips, your lovely mouth,
The way it bends,
To run my finger down your sweet nose,
Can’t wait to touch you, heaven knows,
I can’t wait to kiss your skin so smooth,
Each crevice and each single groove,
To feel your muscles and feel your glow
Can’t wait to touch you, hope you know
You seem so close in oh so many ways,
It’s hard to count when you don’t know the days,
But distance far or close is still a distance,
When you’re not sure it’s just a phase,
I can’t wait to touch your face,
To reunite with your embodied grace,
To stand or lie beside you in the same damn place,
I can’t wait to touch your face

Love
03:51
|
|||
This is a different kind of war,
We’ve never seen this kind before,
Can’t trust one person to come through your door,
Not friends or family, not anymore,
We fill out the required forms,
We don’t wear no uniforms,
Try to adjust to the new norms
Figure out ways to weather the storm,
And victimhood is a lottery
And some of us will be unlucky,
Staying healthy is the key
We can’t even see the enemy,
Ah, but love, love is the only way to fight it,
Love.
Time itself has changed its face
There’s suddenly no way to race
And some are handling it with grace
Though it uncovers so much disgrace
Everyone wants to be heard,
Say how they’re handling the absurd
There are just too many words
Calling out like treetop stuck birds
And they all sound the same to my ear
They’re all some version of the same fear,
That’s the only thing that’s clear
We hold our own survival dear
Ah, but love, love is the only way to fight it.
Love.

Witness
04:53
|

“Nobody knows the trouble I’ve seen,”
When I first heard it, I was young,
And I really felt that melody,
And the way that it was sung,
I’m older now, I see the point,
We only have our own eyes,
And people can only ever see us in pieces,
Even when they sympathise,
I just want a witness to testify my story
The damage that’s been done and all the guts and glory
I just want a hand to lead me where I’m supposed to go,
Cause I don’t know, I don’t know
I’ve been up and down that same old street,
Maybe you’ve walked it too,
And all of the windows and faces and signs
Mean different things to you
We might use the same sounds and words
Wear the same brand of shoes,
Still no matter how hard I try,
I’ll never know your blues,
You just want a witness to testify your story
The damage that’s been done and all the guts and glory,
You just want a hand to lead you where you’re supposed to go,
I don’t know, I don’t know.

Over
05:04
|
|||
Everyone’s behaviour now is just what we’ve inherited
From our parents and our cultures and our histories and peers
Everyone’s behaviour now is all a culmination of partial, twisted vision,
And of memories and fears
And the good and the bad and the ugly,
And the very beautiful,
Will rise and cry, dance and die,
Half empty and half full,
Over and over.
But is it over now,
Or do we watch the same damn circles,
Do we watch the same damn circles spin some more,
Is there even any reason for us to still be watching,
For us to still be watching and keeping score?
And the good and the bad and the ugly,
And the very beautiful
Will rise and cry,
Dance and die
Half empty and half full,
Over and over
When you envision some fine future
And the path to get you there,
Are you brave enough to forge your way
Brave enough to care?
While you jump over hurdles
While you prepare to fend off harm
Will you ever plainly say it
Will you reach out with your arm
And find mine reaching?
Cause I’ve had some ideas,
You know the kind,
Where everybody gets along,
And no one seems to mind
So if it’s really over,
Let it be over soon,
And if it isn’t,
Come on then, now,
Let’s just change the tune,
Over, over.
Cause the good and the bad and the ugly
And the very beautiful
Will rise and cry,
dance and die
half empty and half full
over and over.
